Privacy Policy

Capptivation, Inc. respects your privacy. No personal identifying information is collected, stored or shared by Capptivation, Inc at any time.

At Capptivation, Inc. we respect your privacy. We want you to understand how we collect, use and share information. This Privacy Policy applies to our website and our smartphone app, Reach Out Editions (the “App”). By using our website and the App, you consent to this Privacy Policy and our Terms and Conditions. If you have any questions about our policies, our website and the App, please contact jack@capptivation.com .

The Sources of Our Data

All of the resource information in the App is publicly available gathered from primary sources and from what we believe are reliable secondary sources. We stress that no source is error free and thus it is the responsibility of the user to verify the accuracy of the information presented by the App before relying upon it.

Primary sources include resource websites, phone conversations with authorized employees of resources and emails from authorized employees. Reliable secondary sources include federal, state and local government websites and databases (such as the U.S. Department of Education website), industry organizations, consortiums, secondary institutions, and trade groups. Whenever possible we’ve attempted to verify data from secondary sources with primary sources or other secondary sources (including information from search engines).

Accuracy of Our Data

We cannot guarantee the accuracy of the information in the App. It is up to the user of the data to verify the accuracy before relying on it. There are many reasons why we cannot guarantee the accuracy of information in the App. Including: the information provided by the primary and/or secondary sources may be inaccurate or out of date. Both situations happen frequently. For example, the Title IX Coordinator identified on a college website could have left the college and the college may have failed to update their website. We have systems in place to periodically re-verify the information in our database, but it is possible that between re-verifications information in our database could become out-of-date. We encourage resources to inform us of all changes, but neither Capptivation, Inc. nor users of the App can rely on them to do so at all or in a timely manner.

Another reason for inaccurate information in the database is human error. Capptivation Inc.’s error, the primary source’s error, or the secondary source’s error. Capptivation, Inc. is a small company with limited financial resources and only rudimentary tools at our disposal. As a result we frequently make errors such as poor editing and typos. Capptivation encourages Users to report errors to us or suggest a clarification and/or improvement to the information presented. When we get a correction or suggestion, if we can verify the information, we will update our database. Information We Collect About Users of the App

We do not know who downloads or uses the App. We make no attempt to collect any identifying information about users. We do however keep track of how the App is used. For example, we know how many times the App has been downloaded and we track how many times a college campus has been selected as the default college. We also keep track of database requests including data and time of information requests. We can use this information, among other uses, to count the number of times users request the contact information of individual resources. In addition, we know when a user attempts to send an email or call a resource by tapping on the contact information in the App. We don’t know who is initiating contact only that contact may have been attempted. We don’t know if contact was made since we have no way of knowing if an email was sent or a telephone conversation occurred.

Information We Collect About Authorized Employees Of Resources

Any authorized employee of a resource can request a change to the information about that resource in the Reach Out database. We make a good faith effort to verify that an employee who contacts us and identifies themselves as an authorized employee is indeed authorized. Toward this effort we collect and store identification information about the authorized employee. The information may periodically be used to contact the authorized employee regarding events at Capptivation, Inc. changes to the App, or changes to the information in the database. We will not share this information with a third-party without permission.
