Introducing Reach Out Editions!

Reach Out Editions by Capptivation helps colleges, secondary schools, military bases, local governments, and corporations connect members of their communities who are in-need to both in-house and community resources such as rape crisis centers, helplines, legal aid services, medical care providers, counseling services, and emergency response. Because every organization is unique, every edition is customized, but all editions empower users by putting actionable information at their fingertips. What are your rights? What are your options? Who can help you and how can they help? Take control with Reach Out. No registration required. The app is 100% anonymous.

The college and university editions focus on campus sexual misconduct, although some schools have chosen to expand the scope to other areas such as academic support, substance abuse, depression, disabilities, identity issues, etc. Check out your college’s edition to find out what’s covered. High school and middle school editions address many of the challenges facing teenagers including bullying, harassment, abuse, eating disorders, healthy relationships, positive self-confidence and identity issues.

CVTC Joins the Reach Out Network

Capptivation is excited to announce that the Crime Victims Treatment Center (CVTC) of Mount Sinai West and St. Luke’s Hospitals has joined the Reach Out Network. CVTC has been helping survivors of interpersonal violence heal since 1977. Their support comes in the forms of crisis intervention, individual and group trauma-focused therapy, legal advocacy, complementary therapy and psychiatric consultation. They are available from the moments following an assault, all the way through the culmination of a survivors healing process, All of their services are confidential and completely free of charge.

The Reach Out Network allows service providers to create targeted mobile pages with information that speaks directly to specific at-risk populations. When a person in crisis visits a Reach Out Network Partner’s mobile page within Reach Out they will find a welcoming environment with easily accessible and relevant information about where and how they can get help. The main purpose of these targeted pages is to show users in crisis that help is available to them and they are not alone. Capptivation wants to make it known that there are reliable organizations in the community that have thought about what survivors are likely going through and will do everything they can to help.

In this case, CVTC’s Reach Out Network page will be accessible under the “Community Resources” Chiclet on the Reach Out landing page for all colleges and universities in New York City. Student survivors of campus sexual assault can find comprehensive information about CVTC’s services as well as information about how they will interact with the colleges/universities in New York City to provide the highest level of holistic care possible. Many students may not realize that CVTC can help coordinate support service on campuses as well as off campuses. Capptivation wants to get the message out that CVTC can provide services and guidance for any problems and questions that survivors may have.

Capptivation’s goal is to partner with every community organization across the country to create targeted mobile pages so that Reach Out users can make informed about the care they’d like to receive. To learn more about CVTC you can visit their website. To see CVTC’s targeted, mobile friendly Reach Out Network page, click here. And finally, to learn more about joining the Reach Out Network, or to contact us about developing a free, targeted mobile page email jack@capptivation.com.

Capptivation Presents Reach Out to Clarkson University

Capptivation would like to thank Dr. Jen Ball and Clarkson University for the opportunity to present Reach Out during Global Entrepreneurship week. It was a truly great experience telling students and faculty about our journey creating the app.

The presentation served a dual purpose - to inspire current student entrepreneurs to pursue their ideas, and to introduce Reach Out to the Clarkson student body. Clarkson will be the first school to launch Reach Out on their campus in January 2016.

The administration and faculty truly care about their student’s best interests, which is why we’re so excited to work with them. All along our mission at Capptivation has been to put a relatable product in students hands that they will find helpful. Once Clarkson students return for the second semester they will be able to simply go into the iOS App Store and download Reach Out for free.

Capptivation Partners with Blue Seat Studio

Capptivation is pleased to announce that Blue Seat Studios, producer of the viral video Consent, It's As Simple as Tea, will create an animated tutorial for Reach Out that will teach survivors how to use the app to answer their pressing questions: Which resources respect confidentiality?
